Swanwick Christadelphian Family Bibleschool
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus
Activities – General
Here is a summary of what is done outside the main studies. Sports, Volley ball, Games field, indoor Sports Hall, Bible Quiz, Ramble, Crafts, and finally a special Family Evening.
A games room is available containing a table tennis table, a bar-football table and a pool table. To ensure some fairness, the times when the room is available is scheduled to allow the different age range groups to use it exclusively. Those particularly keen on table tennis may wish to bring their own bats. In previous years, a minor competition has been run to find the best player at the school – purely for fun of course.
The honour and praise to our Father is beautifully expressed in music and song. On some days, after evening coffee, those who have a mind and voice to do so assemble to enjoy singing a few hymns. The group is not an exclusive club – all who are willing are welcome to join in.
As part of the motivation and encouragement of the children and young people, the school is divided like the four camps of the children of Israel under the banners of The Lion, The Ox, The Eagle and The Man. The camp members earn points for their team by good behaviour, good work and from the quiz and the sports. The quiz takes place on the Tuesday afternoon with the four teams made up using one child from each age group – usually with a team total of five or six. The quiz-master will lead the proceedings offering questions to the audience also ensuring full involvement by all present. The points earned by each team are added to the points total for the week. The questions are of course all biblical and spiritual, testing the team members knowledge of the most important things.
The camps are ‘pitted’ against one another in games of fun and amusement.
Optional Afternoon Activities
Following suggestions made from those attending the Family Bible School it was decided, to try some new ideas for the afternoons at the school.
The project proved both exciting and rewarding to those who attended these sessions, which were totally voluntary. The idea was to have activity and craft sessions both for the younger ones and the brethren and sisters, these have included:
- Glass Painting
- Clay Modelling
- Mount Cutting
- Flower Arranging
- Bible Marking and the use of Concordances
- Card Making
The list goes on, add to this the organised outdoor activities and it all made for a very successful addition to the Family Bible School, we do not always do the activities above, and can sometimes change depending on situations, if you would like more information about this year's activities, please contact us through our contact form or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Brethren and Sisters are asked if there is anything they feel they would like to contribute which others can learn and benefit from, to contact us before the next school.
We have also had the offer of book repairing.
The way all of this works is very simple, brethren and sisters join in small groups at the session which interests them, they can go to whatever session appeals to them on any particular day; this allows the opportunity of getting to know more of our brethren and sisters.
